The fifth edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) has been slated to run on Nelson Mandela’s birthday, July 18, in South Africa’s Durban International Convention Center, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa  announced Thursday.

The MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu-Natal, which are produced in association with Absolut and in partnership with the city of Durban, are one of MTV’s biggest international events and have been marketed as “the definitive celebration of African contemporary talent, honoring musicians, achievers and personalities from across the continent” since the first show in 2008.

The 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards will broadcast live on MTV Base (DStv Ch 322) and MTV (DStv Ch 130) on Saturday, July 18, and fans around the globe can also catch the show on MTV through MTV World Stage
